Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly
hold it back. Proverbs 29:11 NLT
I talked with a friend the other day who confessed to
so much anger. I tried to help him let
it go. When he is calm it doesn’t seem
like it can be that out of control. But
in the moment, his words are filthy, hurtful, and mean. I told him, he has to learn to control his
anger and he has too forgive. This next
day he blew up and was taken to jail.
God’s word says much about controlling our tongue. We are free to say whatever we want. But we are not free to choose what the
consequences will be from our words and actions. Better to learn to be quiet.
If you have a problem with angry outburst,
please seek help. Memorize lots of bible
passages about overcoming anger. Look at
the roots and deal with them. Usually
there are hurts that are unresolved.
There is a perceived injustice that happened to you that is still
waiting to be rectified. Your anger
will not bring it to pass. Only
forgiveness settles that debt. This is
not an easy change…but it is possible.
Tis not what I wanted to say
When first we decided to meet
But my mouth blurted out the curse
Never my anger to skip a beat
A constant war rages in my heart
Words in my mind, burn like fire within
I can’t, nor will I own up to my part
Even if the Bible calls it sin
How can I be free of this pain
When the eruption never ceases
I’ve tried so hard to refrain
My mouth does whatever it pleases
Anger starts with words
Then moves to violent acts
Is there a way off this path
Many have left the tracks
Put a muzzle over my mouth
Hold back words that I speak
I hope that this will help
My venom dare not leak
Mighty is he who controls his speech
Say not every word that you think
Peacefulness is within reach
For those who deny angers drink
One step is a
good one to take
When starting a
new path today
Your rights, it’s
time to forsake
The toll of anger
is too much to pay
You can change
for the better
All hope is not
gone for you
Jesus love is
transforming
Your speech will
be impacted too.
