Favor as a Shield

Whisper from Your Father, God

But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
    let them ever sing for joy,
and spread your protection over them,
    that those who love your name may exult in you.

    you cover him with favor as with a shield. Psalms 5:11-12 NIV

How do you respond when people talk evil against you?  Does my protection for you stop the boastful from comparing themselves with you? How do you take refuge in me?

Talk with me.  Don’t just talk about me as if you know me from a distance. I am here and feel the pain that others are bringing your way. I see their lies and the words that are used to hurt and harm you.  Do not try to defend yourself by engaging in the war of words.  Let me be the judge and your defender.

I love your worship.  Sing and remember my steadfast love that never ceases.  Praise and remember my faithfulness to you in the past.  Worship in song and remind yourself of my wisdom to lead you through the difficult waters. Pray and seek my face that I may shine the light of my love upon you.  Make bold declarations of my commitment to finish in you what I start.

I have given my Son, Jesus that name above every other name.  Who he loves, I love.  Who he blesses, I bless.  My favor continually rests on those who are “in” my Son.  My favor is not something that comes and goes.  Rather it is my commitment to always cover you with my good will, love and protection in your life.

I am big enough to handle your small stuff.  I can also handle the big junk that you need to dump on me.  Just allow me to be who I am. Your father and your God.
