I have posted watchmen on your
walls, Jerusalem;they will never be silent day or night.
You who call on the Lord,
give yourselves no rest,
7 and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem
and makes her the praise of the earth. Isaiah 62:6
Chapter 62 of Isaiah reveals God’s love for Israel
and more specifically for Jerusalem. The
city that was deserted with people and by God would be redeemed and
renamed. As a bridegroom chooses a bride
and she becomes associated as wanted and loved by him. Everyone else knows that this bride now belongs
and her identity in secured with the Bridegroom. So Jerusalem will receive a new name.
But when does all of this take place in the
future and what is the proper attitude to have while the whole earth awaits for
God to bring all of the changes to bear upon Jerusalem? Intercession is the answer. This type of praying is focused with hope for
one answer. God restore Jerusalem as a
place of praise on the earth.
God stations these intercessors. He puts them on the wall. They begin to pray day and night for God to
move. “In this verse is the balance of intercession. Our persistence in prayer moves God as some
point. “Give yourselves no rest”. We are
to be continually offering up our prayer request before God. When it seems as if nothing is happening, we
continue to pray for God to bring about his purpose on the earth. When we grow weary, do not give up. When no one else bears our burden, we
continue to bring our petition before the Lord.
Does all of this continued prayer make a difference? Yes, according to this scripture, at some
point God will say, ”Enough!, I am ready to act.” The intercession bowl is full and God moves
in behalf of the prayer request.
Oh, we give up way too soon. If you know it is God’s will in the request
that you purpose, then continue praying.
Search your heart for impure motives, hidden sin, and then keep on
praying. We serve a God who does have
ears to hear and he is listening, DAY and NIGHT. He loves his children and He is inclined to
answer their requests.
Pray for God’s will to be done in the earth. He invites you to be a part of all that He is
doing.
