36 And Jesus[h] charged them to tell no one. But the more
he charged them, the more zealously they proclaimed it. 37 And they
were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things
well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.” Mark 7
This phrase was spoken after Jesus had healed a
deaf and mute man. Not only could he
hear, but he could speak as well. Jesus
healing for this man was for the total package.
Astonished beyond measure was the reaction from
the crowd. When was the last time that
you felt this emotion after experiencing a move from God? It doesn’t have to be a physical miracle of
healing, although it may be. One of the
greatest miracles is the birth of a new believer. The bible declares that such a person is a
new creation, the old has gone and the new has come. This radical transformation can only happen
when Christ steps in.
After amazement, they comment that “he does all
things well.” Were they surprised that
he could do all things well? Were their
expectations such that they were not used to anyone with his abilities to do
all things?
We as
believers are not expected to do all things, but those things we do are to be
done well. We are not trying to impress
God, we are to be whole involved in our activity. Whatever you do, do it for the Lord Jesus
Christ.
Father,
help us to find the balance between doing things out of obligation and doing
them with joy. Help us to do things with
excellence. Help us to know that we gave
our best efforts, we were fully involved, totally engaged, laid it all on the
line. You deserve our best. In Jesus Name, Amen.
