17 And he was teaching them and saying to them, “Is it
not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have
made it a den of robbers.”
Mark 11:17
God loved Abraham. His descendants were told that they were God’s
chosen people. Even today much of the
world looks to Israel as God’s elect.
But from the beginning, God told Abraham that all of the world would be
blessed through him.
God desired that the
patterns for spiritual living would be accessible by all people. He wanted people to know, that there is a way
to access God himself. Prayer allows a
person to know God. Prayer is the key to
gaining the wisdom from God that we need.
In the sacrificial system at
the temple, animals were sold for people to take to the priest to use in their
forgiveness sacrifice. The people
selling the animals were asking too much money and making it hard for people to
have their sacrifices. What should have
been open access in prayer, was now becoming an obstacle.
Jesus was expressing a
righteous anger. He was angry that
people were struggling in getting know God.
He disrupted their tables.
So here is the
question. How can we make the path to
God simple so that all people and cultures can find the truth in Jesus? Do you know the top 7 steps that a new
believer should begin to learn to establish his walk in experiencing God? Many times we make lots of “to do’s” that it
gets confusing on the essentials of following God.
Hear and obey is a good
first step. Talk with God and listen to
what he tells you. Keep in step every
moment with the Holy Spirit.
Finally, is your house a
house of prayer? Are you praying for the
nations to come and know God? What has
been some of the best prayer times that you have had in your home? Would you be willing to host an international
in your home?
Father, thank you for
helping us realize how much you love the whole world. Teach us ot include the nations in our
pursuit of you.
