Craving spiritual milk

Desire God's pure word as newborn babies desire milk. Then you will grow in your salvation.  I Peter 2:2 GWT

Woven into the fabric of your DNA is the desire to crave that which gives you life.  AS a mother has been life to her baby in the womb, the baby “knows” to return to the mother for milk, for life.  I could have made the baby desire water or just be sustained through the air it breaths.  Instead, I created a beautiful picture of dependence.  The mother longs to hold her child and the child is secure receiving the nourishment from the mom.

As a newborn child of God it is in your spiritual DNA to long for my Word.  It is not the physical letters on the page or the combination of the words.  My eternal life is grafted into my Word.  It has the ability to open the eyes of your understanding.  It shows you how sin has affected your ability to breathe freely.  My word makes your faith grow stronger.  Your faith is again directly connected to my power to perform in you that which is life-giving.

Yet you have found comfort foods which have no value to your spiritual life, When you are stressed you eat from the entertainment industry thinking that some nugget of pleasure will help you.  This only makes you starve all the more spiritually.  There is not another substitute that you can find in the world that provides the nourishment that I alone can give.  No matter how sweet the taste for the moment, it has no value to strengthen your spiritual bones.  Your desire to live life apart from me slowly makes you more anemic spiritually.  ALL of your spiritual journey is connected to maintaining dependent, ongoing, and constant nourishment from me.

When you read my word ask me to open your eyes and ears so that you may understand what I am saying to you.  Connecting with my Word is like turning on a light to find your way in a dark room.  You can stumble around the room trying to find your way, or with my light your path can be easily revealed.  I am life!  This is not optional.  Peter said to My Son, “Where else can we go, you alone have the words of life?”

Whispers from your Father, God.
