Know the Scriptures and the power of God

²⁴ Jesus said to them, “Is this not the reason you are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God? Mark 12

I had a friend that said “there are no right answers to wrong questions”!  The Sadducees were asking Jesus how will marriage work in heaven.  They doctrinally did not even believe that there is a resurrection.  Yet they were trying to trick Jesus with their question about marriage.

How is it that Jesus could tell men who had studied the scriptures their whole life that they did not know the Scriptures?  These men were well versed in all aspects of the laws of God.  They could quote whole sections of the passages.  Yet, Jesus said they did not know the Scriptures nor the power of God.

Blindness to understanding the scriptures is not related to memorization of scriptures or even extended time in studying the passages.  It occurs when there is not relationship with the author of the text.  God inspired all of the Bible.  He then reveals (uncovers) His words to his children.
