Why do you need this colt?

Jesus[a] sent two of his disciples and said to them, “Go into the village in front
of you, and immediately as you enter it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it. If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it and will send it back here immediately.’” And they went away and found a colt tied at a door outside in the street, and they untied it. And some of those standing there said to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?”And they told them what Jesus had said, and they let them go. Mark 11
How did Jesus know about the colt?  How did he know that someone would ask the disciples what they were doing?  Your answer is probably, He is God and knows everything, including the future.  Do you really believe that He knows the future...your future, your ministry future?
Notice Jesus explains to them what will take place with great detail.  He tells them where to find the colt, describes the colt as unridden, tells them what to say when they are questioned.  The disciples obey.  Everything that Jesus told them happened as he had spoken.
The disciples walked in faith.  Faith comes by hearing.  They heard what Jesus told them and they put action to his words.  What do you think their conversation sounded like as they walked toward the city?  There was no neon sign telling them they were getting the right colt.  Yet God led them to the right place.  He can do the same for you.
Then there is the owner of the colt.  Did he have a dream? A vision?  Did Jesus tell the owner about his need at a previous time?  Regardless, the owner knew from the disciple’s words to let the colt go.  Has God ever told you that someone needs something that you have?  This is a good test to see if you are holding on to your possessions or do they belong to God.
God can speak specifically about ministry. As an associate pastor we would pray before the service asking God what he wanted to do in the service.  Many times he would tell us about specific illnesses that he wanted to heal.  One time I had an impression that someone was asking for healing in their leg.  During the service the Pastor shared the impression we had earlier.  Nobody responded.  Then he said sometimes the healing word may be for multiple people.  He shared the word again.  8 people came forward for various feet issues.  I remember one lady shared about crying out to the Lord on that specific morning.  She wanted to know how we knew what she had been praying for?  We told her God knew her need and shared it with us.

Father, thank you that nothing about our future ever surprises you.  You know everything about us.  We can trust you for our present and our future.  The harvest of lost people is plentiful.  Lead us to the ripe harvest.  In Jesus Name, Amen
